Usage recommendations
1 – Before observation
- Use only glasses certified to the standard ISO 12312-2-2015
- Inspect the filters:
- no scratches
- no holes
- no cracks
- no creases
- Make sure they stay securely on your face (no light getting in from the sides).
2 – During observation
- Always put on your sunglasses BEFORE looking at the sun
- Only look at the sun with your glasses properly in place.
- Never remove them while looking at the sun (look away). BEFORE to remove them)
- Limit observations to short periods (a few tens of seconds at a time)
Absolute prohibitions
- Never use:
- classic sunglasses
- smoked glass, CDs, films, radios, etc.
- Never look at the sun without protection, even briefly.
- Do not use glasses:
- old or dubious
- damaged
Special cases
- Never use the glasses alone with:
- binoculars
- telescope
- camera
The glasses are not not designed for these instruments. We need some specific solar filters to attach to the device.
